In May 2025, IBMC hosted its inaugural workshop at UC Berkeley and publicly launched its official website Introduced a robust membership program and broadened our global partnership base and impact Created a new webinar series to promote engagement and knowledge exchange Submitted three patent applications demonstrating our commitment to research and innovation Secured NSF approval for Year 2 funding Successfully launched a pilot summer internship program, supporting our mission of outreach and education

The LLNL is looking for a Postdoctoral Researcher to join the Synthetic Biology group in the Biosciences and Biotechnology Division. The researcher will work on synthetic biology approaches to recover critical metals from domestic feedstocks by identifying, engineering, and implementing novel proteins and genetic pathways. The role involves developing high-throughput assays, engineering genetic circuits in relevant microbes, and evaluating their performance in increasingly complex test beds. The candidate will design and execute research plans, analyze and publish results, present at scientific meetings, and contribute to technical reports. This full-time, on-site position offers opportunities for independent research and collaboration across disciplines. |

The Research Associate will support research, technical assistance, outreach, and education activities for on-farm water and energy conservation and nutrient management on small-scale, diversified farms. The activities are focused in Fresno County, with additional outreach to Madera and Tulare Counties, and will also inform statewide small farms programming. Activities for this position are part of an applied research and extension program focused on both economic viability and environmental sustainability of small-scale production systems in a landscape where there is a complex food, water, energy, and climate nexus. Current research and technical assistance projects focus on water and energy conservation, irrigation scheduling, nutrient management, use of soil moisture sensors, evaluation of emerging technologies, compliance with groundwater regulation, and on-farm groundwater recharge. |
