Shell has been engaged in research collaborations with the Energy & Biosciences Institute (EBI) since 2017. Given the strong alignment and shared goals of sustainability, carbon reduction, and solving the world’s energy crisis, we began by supporting projects in Advanced Energy Storage, Computational Materials Science and Chemistry, Dense Energy Carriers, Methane to Products, Bioenergy and Bio-solutions, and Technoeconomic and Supply Chain Analysis. In 2022 the partnership was renewed and the research portfolio expanded to include Advanced Separations, Circularity, Hydrogen Supply Chain, and Nature-Based Solutions.
The EBI-Shell academia-industry collaboration is centered around research, sustainability and innovation. The EBI believes that by working with partners like Shell towards a common goal, breakthroughs can be achieved, and research, education and industry will all play a pivotal role in finding critical solutions.
We were delighted to welcome these important, transformational industry leaders to UC Berkeley and look forward to future visits and engagement opportunities.
