EBI Researchers Sophia Ewens and John Coates are studying phosphorous reduction-oxidation (redox) cycling to expand our understanding of the process as it occurs naturally through microbes providing energy for carbon fixation. Sophia is the inaugural EBI-Shell Research Fellow and her research is focused on the area of microbial phosphorous redox cycling as a means of solar energy storage and carbon dioxide capture & conversion.
