and where appropriate references to BP therein should be read as references to

Use of the EBI Web site is subject to all applicable state
and federal laws, as well as general EBI policies. It is EBI’s usual practice
not to share any personal information with those outside the EBI.
As part of its commitment to maintain the privacy of users
of this Web site, EBI has developed this privacy notice to inform you of our
Privacy Policy and practices and of the choices you can make about the way your
information is collected online and how that information is used. We collect no personal information about you
when you visit our Web site unless otherwise stated or unless you choose to
provide this information to us. However, we collect and store certain
information automatically:
Server Log Information
EBI Web servers generate logs that may contain information
about computers or devices used to access the EBI Web site, or about general
activity on the EBI Web site, such as the following:

This information is not shared with anyone beyond the Web
site support staff, except when required by law enforcement investigation, and

summary statistics to help us make our site more useful to visitors, such as

other purposes such as determining the site's technical design specifications
and identifying system performance or problem areas.
We log visitor's domain and IP address automatically; this
information does not identify you as an individual, but only the computer that
is being used to view the site. This data is used to see where the site is
being used in the world to ensure coverage, and for click stream analysis to
help better understand site usage, so that we can improve our service to you.
We do not link information automatically logged by such means with personal
data about specific individuals.
Data collection and
use
When you request information through this site, we may need
to know some personal information about you. When emailing us, or subscribing
for free news or information we need your e-mail address, name and other
limited personal identifiers, typically name and contact number. Your personal
data will be processed to provide information, and services you request in the
form that you require.
We also reserve the right to disclose your personally
identifiable information as required by law and when we believe that disclosure
is necessary to protect our rights and/or comply with a judicial proceeding,
court order, or legal process served on our Web site.
Except as set out above, we will not pass your details to
anyone else outside the EBI organization without your permission.
If we look to use your personal data for a new purpose,
beyond what it was originally provided for, we will ask for your consent. You
can choose to provide this consent in advance by indicating in the 'opt-in' box

Data retention
Data will be held for the lifetime your subscription is
active for the purposes of contacting you effectively after which time it is
depersonalized and non-identifiable. We do not collect any additional
information about you other than that outlined above.
Unsubscribe and
Opt-Out
You may unsubscribe or opt-out of services at any time,
details of how to opt-out are outlined on the Web site and generally, it is a
simple process.
Security
We have implemented security policies, rules and technical measures
to protect the personal data that we have under our control that complies fully
with data privacy & protection legislation appropriate to the jurisdiction
applicable to the site. The security measures are designed to prevent
unauthorized access, improper use or disclosure, unauthorized modification
& unlawful destruction or accidental loss.
At present we do not give visitors to our Web site the
option of using a secure transmission method to send us their personal data
Rules for Individuals under Thirteen Years of Age
EBI is committed to complying fully with the Children’s
Online Privacy Protection Act. Accordingly, if a user of the EBI Web site is
under the age of thirteen, such user is not authorized to provide EBI with
personally identifying information, and the EBI will not use any such
information in its database or other data collection activities. The EBI
appreciates cooperation with this federally mandated requirement. Users under
the age of thirteen and their parents or guardians are cautioned that the
collection of personal information volunteered by unauthorized children online
or by e-mail will be treated the same as information given by an adult until
EBI becomes aware that the user is under the age of thirteen and such
information may be subject to public access.

for your convenience and information. If you access those links, you will leave

which may differ from EBI’s. We do not endorse or make any representations
about third-party Web sites. The EBI Privacy Statement does not cover the
personal data you choose to give to unrelated third parties. We encourage you
